BioWho am I:
I am an entity otherwise known as IceDragon or Artex on the net, where the former is my nickname and the later is my net name. I practically live online, meaning that computers and internet has become an inseparable (for long) part of my life and that offline I have a lot less real friends than I have online. Sounds freaky, insane, sad or abnormal - I know - yet I can't say I hate this condition. Sure, I'm [relatively] young and I'm missing lots of "interesting" things outside like parties, friends, girls, sex, sports, etc, but the problem is that I'm not even interested in them! Going to bars, getting drunk, fighting, getting laid and other social activities apparently don't turn me on as much as they perhaps should.
What do I do:
Nothing special, I'd say, but then again - which one of us does do anything special and what "special" actually means?.. Offline I'm a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter mechanic, working as a part of my millitary service in the Israeli AirForce for almost 3 years - I'm a soldier (at least at the time of writing *grin*).
Online I am one of the QuickFox administrators, an inexperienced software developer, a web-developer experienced in HTML, CSS, PHP and MySQL. I am also a council member of the Furcadia MMOSG, a group head of the bug hunters and technical support volunteer team.
What do I not do:
I don't smoke - I also can't stand smoking people who think that if they can breathe their crap, then so can I. I don't mind if you are a smoker, drain your health all you want, but don't involve me and take my oxygen! I have all the rights in the world to breathe air just like you do.
I don't drink - at least not as much as an average person would. If I'm in a good company with a good enough cause, I consider it an acceptable thing.
My interests:
As mentioned, I am mostly interested in computers and technology. Ever since the early years, I was already exposed to computer music, technology of some sort and I grew up to not jjust know how to use it, but to understand it.
I enjoy programming - it gives me a sense of control when I make a computer perform tasks that I want it to do. It improves my logical thinking and helps me understand computers and their way of thinking more in depth. It's also a lot better than having to argue with another person all the time that is either too lazy to do their work or does it incorrectly. When it comes to people, logics tend to fail with them in many aspects... I am familiar with the following programming/scripting languages: C/C++, PHP, TCL, Python. I know other languages, too, but I don't use them as much.
My music taste revolves around electronic music - trance, dance, industrial and alike. I also like mod music of the Demoscene - I'm one of the people who actually enjoys listening to nice chiptunes and other such music. Saying that, it doesn't mean that I don't like other kinds of music or like them less. Frankly, it's a lot easier for me to say which music I don't listen to (which is metal and other "noisy" music as well as the "eastern" songs or the depression crap they sing here in Israel), but even those have exceptions. Depends on the songs I guess...
What this place is all about:
I intend to use this place as a kind of "storage space" for my thoughts, opinions, event summaries and alike, pretty much what other people use LJ for. Most of them will be open for others to see and even comment on, but this doesn't mean that I want people to judge my posts or use me as a public news source that accepts criticism from the audience on the quality of the content. If you feel like telling me that something is not interesting or that my life is boring or that I need to get out more, change my view point, change my lifestyle or plain stop writing about something - do me and yourself a favor - don't waste your time. I'm not writing posts for the public - I write them for myself and those who feel like reading them, so if I don't catch up to your expectations for an entertainment, you are more than welcome to rack off.
